About Kanya

Kanya is an educational recruitment & leadership organisation that is committed to delivering transformative learning experiences to build our female leaders of tomorrow. Our tailored workshops are designed to equip young leaders with the knowledge, skills and confidence to excel in the professional world.

We have developed a year long program that will be broken down into 4 workshops to cover the core concepts off career development.

Our workshops empower and ignite students to take charge of their careers and prepare for the world they are about to step into.

Workshop 1

Creating the perfect resume

Students understand the stages of our career triangle to help create the perfect resume.
We have developed this methodology to create a journey of self-discovery for students to be able to identify, create, explain and sell their experiences.

Outcomes:

Students will learn the art of creating the perfect resume and how to stand out from the crowd
Students will gain an understanding of the purpose of the resume as a tool in the recruitment process
Students will learn how to utilise their resume successfully in the next stages of the recruitment process

Workshop 2

Identifying yourself as a leader

Students go on an exploratory journey to identify different leadership pathways that are tailored to their values, personalities and beliefs. What we do differently at Kanya is to take students on a leadership journey that explores relevant gender skills that are needed to lead, influence and negotiate. At Kanya, we also mimic group interviews and assessment centers for high-school students to introduce, challenge and build leadership skills.

Outcomes:

Students will develop an in-depth understanding of Women in a leadership context and how this differs
Students will develop the tools, frameworks and understanding of leadership for women to further their abilities to lead, negotiate and influence effectively
Students will be supported to create their personal development plans with a focus on self-awareness and acceptance in a leadership context

Workshop 3

Interview Preparation

It is one thing to tell your story on paper, and another to tell it in person. Students understand the importance of interview preparation and the tips and tricks to ace your first or last interview. Students are also given the opportunity to practice their interview styles in a mock-interview scenario that Kanya creates with the provision of feedback and on-going support.

Outcomes:

Students will develop an understanding of the expectations and requirements of an entry-level candidate in recruitment
Students will develop the skills to prepare for an interview process and utilise their resumes to excel
Students gain exposure to common mistakes of entry-level candidates as well as exceptional stand-outs
Students will gain practical experience in thinking on the spot, verbal and non-verbal communication cues as well as framing responses in a structured yet authentic manner

Workshop 4

Exploring different career paths

The final step is asking students what careers they are interested in! Kanya connects students with industry leaders to run workshops on different career paths and opportunities. We help students to match their interests and skills with different industries and jobs. Kanya also provides on-going career training and support for all entry-level students, for both recruitment and on-the-job career advice.

Outcomes:

Students will gain an understanding into different career paths, industries and the expectations of roles, responsibilities and career trajectories
Students will have a safe environment to connect with young industry leaders to discover their own career goals
Students will be provided on-going career training and support from a recruitment and leadership context

About the Founder

Hi! I’m Saloni, the Founder of Kanya. I have been in the HR and Recruitment Industry for over 5 years and share a strong passion for people development. Personally, I have witnessed the gap in educating and preparing our students as the leaders of tomorrow as well as preparing students for the recruitment process. Now, on the other end of the phone, I am still witnessing this knowledge gap in our youth and it became time to do something about this.

The Kanya team has done extensive research into the recruitment and leadership industry and our mission is to prepare every student for the professional world. We believe there is a leader inside of every student and we hope to harness our tools and knowledge to equip every students to excel.
